For many years, I called myself a lazy perfectionist. If I couldn’t do something perfectly, I
didn’t want to do it at all. I would
often walk by a few bits of paper on the floor and mutter to myself, “I really need
to vacuum and mop the floors!”. But when
my four kids were small and homeschooling was in full swing, that seldom
happened! Really what I needed to do was
lean down and Just Pick It Up! I let my
perfection get in the way of “better”.
So let me encourage you to do something badly, rather than not doing
anything. Do the simple, manageable
task. Start a dishwasher that’s not
quite full. Get a damp paper towel
and wipe up that sticky spot from the floor instead of hauling out the mop. Put the PJs in the drawer unfolded. See those bits of paper on the floor? Lean down and Just Pick It Up! See?
Better already!
